Practice is Essential!

Last week, we took a few steps back with the first grade student I have been blogging about. He came on Wednesday and it was very clear that he had not been studying and that he had regressed. After a serious conversation between us, he realized that he needed to continue to study every day. I basically had to lay it out for him, the fact that he was far behind grade level and will be retained and the fact that he needs to prepare for next year by studying now so that he does not continue to work far below grade level. I am glad to say he came back Thursday having studied, but unless he keeps studying and coming to LIST, he will be in the same boat next year.
Other than that, last week was a pretty typical week. It has been great because some of our previous volunteers have returned. This has allowed us to whittle down our ever growing waiting list; it is also great to work with these volunteers again. Of course, we can always use more, so if you know of anyone interested in volunteering email me at kellenga@listhelps.org
