Slippery Science

Slippery Science was our experiment this week; the students made their own slime! I thought that this might be a let down after the Mentos/Diet Coke geyser from last week, but the students really enjoyed it. Many of the students commented on how their friends had store bought slime, so they were all excited to be able to make their own! Nome of them predicted what would happen in their hypothesis, so they were all surprised at the outcome.

Many of the students attending LIST during our summer session are students that have been attending for a while (at least a year or two), some however, are new to LIST. We have really enjoyed getting to know them; I have also identified a couple students that will need extra assistance in their studies. With this short summer session, I hope we an give these students and intensive program that helps them catch up as much as possible. I’ve also noticed again, how important summer intervention is for all students as those that have been coming to LIST seem to have forgotten some of what they had learned last year.

We are also having our photo shoot tomorrow for the upcoming LIST calendar which will be available for sale sometime in September. We've got a lot of students participating, so you'll be able to keep track of your appointments while seeing some of the students that attend LIST at the same time!

Next week, our experiment involves corn flour, glue, borax and water! The same ingredients we used this week except for the corn flour. I will be interested to see what hypothesis the students come up with for next week’s experiment with this new addition.
