Balloon Fun!

This was our final week for our summer session. I know all the students had a great time between all the experiments we performed as well as the photo shoot for our upcoming school year calendar. I think the volunteers also really had a great time as well and we owe them a BIG thank you! So, thanks to NiƱa, Ali, and Tori for all your hard work!

Our experiment this week was called, “Balloon Fun”. We used baking soda, vinegar and balloons and our hypothesis was what happens when you mix these three things. The result – the balloon blows up with air! Most of the students then wanted their balloon tied off so they could bounce it around, but one boy decided he’d keep it untied so he could blow it up and then let the air out, making a funny noise! (Boys will be boys!) Check out our pictures on our Facebook page!

In other news, our waiting list continues to grow, and unfortunately some of the students that attended during our summer session are now on our waiting list for the school year. I have at least one new volunteer coming for next year, and I am hopeful we can move these students off the list and into our program because they really enjoyed their time with us this summer.

Next week we will be closed, but then we open on September 7 for our third year of operation! I can’t wait to see what we are able to accomplish this coming year!
