Back to work

This week we quickly got back in the swing of things after an extended spring break vacation. We had a couple new volunteers – individuals who found us through the Disney “Give a Day, Get a Day” program. I hope they enjoyed their time with us so they can make volunteering with us a part of their regular schedule! We also continued to add new students to our waiting list.

On Saturday, April 10, we had our “Delicious Dessert” fundraising event. It was a great success, and there were A LOT of great desserts! All total, people donated 14 desserts, and since all the desserts were donated, the money we made through the event was 100% profit! Between the price to get in and people’s generous donations, we took in over $600 making this event one of our most successful! Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures and/or ask someone else to take pictures for me, so there is no photo evidence of the fun we had, or the amazing desserts peoples made. If you missed this event, do not worry, I am sure we will have one in the future. I will also be working on gathering some, if not all of the recipes from the various desserts that were donated to make a recipe book we will sell, so look for this in the future. You won’t want to miss it, because the desserts were AMAZING!

In other news, I am proud to say that we are close to completing 1000 tutoring sessions for this current school year. Within a few weeks, we will read this monumental achievement! Last year, we were no where near completing this number of sessions. It is only with the help of our volunteers that this is even possible. I’m thinking of a few ways to celebrate this great achievement – if you have any ideas, let me know!
