This week, with spring break fast approaching (starting yesterday) the excitement for the break was felt by everyone, including myself! Even with the restlessness of an upcoming vacation, it was a good week at LIST.
One of the students I mentioned last week, the fifth grade girl whose teacher complimented her on how well she has been doing since coming to LIST, brought one of her inventions in to show me. It was a cube she had made by using different colored paper and folding/tucking areas in to make the cube. It is something she had mentioned to me a while ago, and just remembered to bring to show me. It was neat to see this student’s imagination at work in something really creative. I really enjoy working with this student and was happy to have her share her creative side with me.
Another student I recently mentioned, a fourth grade girl who has just started to feel comfortable at LIST, seemed to continue in her comfort with us this week. I have never seen this student excited about anything, but this week, she was not only excited to be at LIST, she was also excited by the work she was doing. I think it also helped that she was able to complete her vacation homework while working with us, but it was still neat to see her personality emerging.
Since I will take next week off from blogging, I want to put a final reminder out there about our Delicious Desserts event coming up on April 10 at 8 p.m. For more details, go to www.listhelps.org. I hope to see you there!
