Rain., rain, go away!

This week was a short, storm filled week. It was short because of the Martin Luther King holiday, and it was stormy due to all the rain the L.A. area experienced. Hopefully, next week, we will see an improvement in the weather.

As I was contemplating what to blog about this week, I realized my blogs are often filled with stories of the students that are struggling and the ways they are making progress; great news to share, of course! These students only make up a percentage of those attending LIST, so this week I thought I’d share about some of the other students attending LIST; our students are such great kids, it is what makes my job so fulfilling!

One student, a third grade boy, I have had the pleasure of substitute teaching in his classroom last year. In class, he always was polite and never got into much trouble; a substitute teacher’s dream. He recently started coming to LIST, and it is there I have really gotten to know what a great kid he is! He truly is one of the most polite kids I’ve ever met – when he does not understand what you are saying, or did not hear you, he will say, “excuse me?” If you’ve spent much time around kids, you know this is VERY unusual! I also appreciate his positive attitude and his commitment to his studies. He enjoys learning his multiplication and division tables and takes pleasure in finishing his homework. What a great kid!

Another great student at LIST is a fifth grader. Her imagination is fantastic! The other day, she told me about a game she developed with to boxes and string. She is planning to bring it next week to show me! She also really is dedicated to her studies as well. Rarely does she need a lot of help; she just keeps plugging on getting her work done. She is truly a great example for the other students attending LIST.

These two students are just a highlight of the many terrific students I have the pleasure of working with each week. I am very blessed to be able to serve them in this way.
