Our first annual “Tiz Hiz Season” Gospel and Christmas concert (at least we hope to make it an annual event) was a great success. The choir sounded terrific, Chikezie Eze sang two songs, one an original, and the other an oldie revamped Chikezie style. We had a good turnout, and I was able to share the wonderful things we are doing at LIST. On top of all that, we made some money! Thank you to all who attended, and to those who donated money, without you, “Tiz Hiz Season” would not have been a success.
In other news, I’ve continued to see progress with the students I have been highlighting in my blog. The set of twins (second graders) are continuing to learn new words each week. They are also beginning to remember the sounds and their spellings on a more regular basis. The other student, a first grade boy with some learning disabilities, is also making progress. He is continuing to recognize more and more words each week. While his blending skills have not improved much from the last bit of progress, I can see the wheels turning and I know progress will come.
This will be my last blog for 2009. It has been a great start to the school year, and I am looking forward to what 2010 will bring.
