Our summer registration is gradually growing. Many of the students that are enrolled are students that are already attending LIST which is great because it allows us to continue working on those skills that the students need help on and maintain those they already know. I ran into a teacher this week who mentioned that there may not be ANY summer school due to budget cuts. If this is the case, I imagine we will have more parents enrolling their students.
I have also contacted a teacher friend at a nearby school and passed on the flyers for our summer programs. With the potential of no summer school at all, parents are going to be in need of help for the students. I also saw on the news that Los Angeles Unified School District will not be providing summer school session either. This is a HUGE district surrounding Inglewood, so we may also have students coming from this district as well..
With all the budget cuts occurring, I am interested to see what next school year will look like. Next year, we may having an even greater waiting list then we did this year if districts are not able to offer after school tutoring. The need for LIST may be increasing as we speak!
