Spring Clearning

Despite the fact that this week was a short week at LIST because of the Cesar Chavez holiday on Monday, we were still able to complete 19 sessions (in a normal week, we would complete 12 sessions). The reason we were able to complete so many sessions is because we had our two volunteers returning! It is so great to have volunteers because it really expands our capacity.
In other news, Sunday, we were fortunate to have a group from NewSong L.A. come and complete a service project for us in honor of Cesar Chavez. A group of about 10 people came out and spent a few hours cleaning. I had no idea the place could come so clean, but they all did a bang up job, especially those that cleaned the windows and the floors. The floors were so dirty, they had shifts of people mopping, then scrubbing on their hands and knees and then mopping again! Those that cleaned the windows spent time scraping off tape and debris that had been on the windows for what looked like a very long time. Not only did they clean, but the replaced some light bulbs, and re-hung our pencil sharpener – all projects that I’ve had on my list for a while. It was a great day of spring cleaning! We’ll have one more week (next week) and then we have a week off for spring break. In that time, I will be doing a lot of work for The Second Annual “Jazz in the Afternoon” event coming up April 26. Don’t forget to register online before the event because the price goes up to $50 at the door. Go to www.listhelps.org and click on the News tab to purchase your tickets!
