Two funny stories of what kids said this week. I always ask the kids what they are having for dinner, because sometimes I am hungry, and also because it was the first question I always asked when I got home, “Mooooooom, what’s for dinner?” Apparently, the students attending LIST are not as driven by their stomachs as I am because they rarely know. I asked a first grader what he was having for dinner this week, and he said he didn’t know. Then I commented on what we were having and his response was, “You’re the mom, of course you know what you are having!” I had to laugh.
The other funny conversation I had happened with two sixth grade girls. We were talking about cell phones; one of the girls has one and the other does not. The one who does not have one was upset by the fact that her parents think she is too young for a cell phone. She then said, “It’s not fair! Remember when you were young and you wanted a cell phone?!” At which point I had to say, “Cell phones didn’t actually exist when I was your age.” The look on the girl’s face was priceless!
