Giving Back

Our second week open for the school year has gone really well. A student that I had tutored a few years ago, and a brother to a student that continues to come, is doing some volunteer work with us helping to tutor students. It is great to see this former student give back to us, when he has many options to fulfill his service requirements in high school. I hope that this is a trend that will continue in the future!
It is also great to know that all of the students attending LIST this year are happy with their teachers. Just as adults have personality conflicts with their bosses, there are times when students do not get along with their teachers as well. There have been a couple instances where a student attending LIST is very shy, and the teacher very outgoing; in these instances, the student becomes very overwhelmed. Thankfully, that is not the case this year and each student seems to be very happy with the teacher they have.
I know the school year is back in the swing of things, because we are planning out next LIST Art Class for October 22 – I am excited to see what project the students will be working on, and am so thankful for our volunteer who comes up with all the ideas!
