Painting Music

On Saturday, we had another LIST Art Class. This time, the students painted music. It took them a couple minutes to understand what to do, but with some suggestions of ideas, they were very prolific in their paintings! Thanks so much to our volunteer, Tori, for putting together the art class each month! To see pictures, click here.
This week, it is the beginning of the CST (California Standardized Test). The students are full of nerves during this time of year, so we always try and keep an especially relaxed environment to keep their minds off of the testing. Of course, we always remind them to do their best, eat breakfast and get a good night’s sleep. This week also becomes a bit of a review week for many students as their teacher’s do not send home homework to give them a break. This helps in making it a relaxed setting.
With testing comes the end of the school year – only 6 weeks until the end of the year! It’s hard to believe the year end is coming so soon. This means planning for our summer programs and starting registration for the next school year. The summer program will be similar to last year, except we will probably concentrate on art and music and not science. Of course, we will also be doing lots of review to make sure the students remember what they have already learned.
Finally, don’t forget about our Super Delicious Desserts fundraiser on May 21 – to RSVP, email kvellenga@listhelps.org. Also, if you’d like to donate a dessert, email the same address to let me know what you would like to donate.
