Our Second Annual “Jazz in the Afternoon” event was a lot of fun! It was a great way to share the work we are doing and celebrate with our supporters what we have accomplished. To see some pictures and read more of a recap, please go to http://www.listhelps.org/ and click on the Event Photo tab and the News tab.
While at the Jazz event, I spoke to a family friend of one of the students that attends LIST. He told me that this student had turned into a new person after attending LIST. He said that she has a completely different attitude! Her mom also mentioned that one her report card, she went from C’s to B’s! What a great testimony of the work we are doing!
This week, we also felt some of the affects of the scare of the swine flu. No one at LIST came down with swine flu, however, many students came down sick, and therefore did not come for their tutoring sessions. One of the parents told me that the schools were asking that all sick students stay home as a precaution, so many parents are being super cautious, which I appreciate. I am not too worried, myself about the swine flu, but I am glad parents are taking precautions for any illness.
