We completed our 300th tutoring session this week!! It is great to look back to the first few weeks when enrollment was slowly growing, to now where we have a full schedule every day and a waiting list that, at this time, is only growing.
That waiting list, however, may start shrinking a bit because we have two new volunteers starting in the next couple weeks, and another volunteer starting in May! This is such great news, because, as I mentioned, for a couple months now, our waiting list has only grown; our current schedule has been very stable, which is great, but it does not allow for new students to start attending. Now, with new volunteers, our capacity will grow once more!
On top of all this great news, I also saw progress with one student I have mentioned in the past; the student studying her multiplication tables. This week, she raised the number of cards she knew in 3 minutes to 42! Inching ever closer to her goal of 50! The biggest change I noticed was the 12’s; previously, these were a sticking point for her, but now she can add them to her repertoire of multiplication tables she knows! Much of this progress was made as she studied at home. Her mom said she ahs been studying on the bus and one night she fell asleep studying them. A big shout out to this student and her mom for their hard work!
The other bit of news is our Laugh With Kids . . . Not At Them fund raising event which is tonight! It looks like we’ll have a great turnout! Apparently, the first act of the Improv will include a dance where the actors dance around myself! It should be interesting!
