Last week was an exciting week for us at LIST as we were able to move a few students off of our waiting list with new sessions being available. During this time of the year, the local school starts after school tutoring. It is different from LIST as it is a class of 12 or more students, and it runs for 2-3 hours each day, it almost becomes a good daycare solution for parents. Anyway, this allows us the opportunity to move students off of our waiting list when parents switch them over to the school program, and between the school and LIST, we can serve more students.
Anyway, I was helping one of our new students, a second grade girl, and she was telling me that she often teaches her younger cousins to read. I then said that she should be a teacher when she grows up. She said, yes, but that she has a big decision ahead of her. She said, “I have a good singing voice, and a good yelling voice, which you need as a teacher when the kids are not listening to you. The problem is that when I yell, my singing voice goes away, so I don’t know which one to be, a singer or a teacher, because I can’t do both!”
She then went on to tell me all the details of her past 3-4 birthday parties down to the weather, who was there, and what exactly made it a fun party. This girl is a kick in the pants and we are excited to have her join us along with the other new students!
