This week has been somewhat of a busy week at LIST. I have been enrolling several new and previous students throughout the week. Next week, I will have up to 4 volunteers, and we only have 4 open spots total. Our current schedule for next week includes 30 tutoring sessions! We are very indebted to our volunteers for making it possible for us to offer so many tutoring sessions.
So far, all of the students have been enjoying their time at LIST – each commenting as they leave how they are so excited to come back for their next scheduled time! We have enrolled a couple students whose parents speak no English and their children have come to a point where they cannot help them any longer (the work has become too difficult to decipher for them). The thing that I have noticed the most with these students is the relief that the parents and students feel when they leave and the homework is completed for the day. I can only imagine the struggle they have, nightly, to figure out how to complete their homework. It is great to be able to provide this service to these students and families!
In other news, I am so grateful to one of our donors for donating a printer and wireless printer gateway. So far, with some help from one of our volunteer’s husbands, I can now print from my laptop to the donated printer! We are still working on getting the printer router up and running, but this makes life much easier. Previously, I would transfer any document I needed printer to my memory stick and print from a different computer. Thanks for this donation and for the donated time to make it workable
